LWD - 3 ways to wear it

Nothing else brings more lightness and freshness than a white dress in the summer. It´s our highest wishes when we feel great showing off that dress especially if we contrast it with the gorgeous summer tan, by then we know we hit the high note.
You have green light to use this color in any occasion; going to the beach, cocktail or even to work. The fabric and shape will define it´s use for different occasions.
White is a great basic and a perfect canvas to add up any accessory to the outfit. It´s a clean, fresh, crisp and feminine color.

1. For a job outfit, a modern and neutral ensemble where you can add a pop of color to your feet to make a difference. A structured dress with polished, elegant and professional accessories.

2. For a cocktail look, the power of the metallics are highlighted in this outfit. A more sexy dress to accentuate the feminine curves with a very trendy detail - the peplum. To add a little color, a neon necklace and a touch of shine, a sequin jacket.

3. For a more casual outfit, a comfy and feminine dress with embroided details to give that little cute touch. Relaxed and elegant accessories.

A Happy Deco-Romantic Valentine.

The day of the hearts and of love is coming soon. I present you an outfit inspired from the Deco era, a time of delicacy, romanticism, and graphically, very amusing to me. Therefore, this outfit has a hint of the geometrical inspiration from the Deco years. A nice twist for your romantic dinner out. To break the sophistication and luxurious image of the ensemble, I added a pop of color with a more casual cardigan.

[Gestuz Cardigan Peek Bright Red, Gold sleeved sequin top, Native sequin mini skirt from Allsaints, Christian Louboutin Bianca heels, House of Harlow 1960 clutch, Gold Deco pendant necklace from missselfridge]

If you men are out there, trying to look for some gift ideas, I'm sure the ladies would love a touch of classical luxurious items, either for their home or for themselves.

The Havaianas are very known for their amazing flip-flops and you can’t find any better – I promise! As a legitimate fan I would bring a couple of flips every time I went to Brazil on work or vacation. I have tons and they are truly comfortable and last forever!!

Pieces for next season.

As a true fashionista, you just can’t wait for exciting new collections for new experiments and I’m surely, some of you out there are awaiting with expectation for new items at the store.
In the meantime, why not take advantage of the summer sales and try to bring some summer trends to fall in a lower cost.
Here are some highlights from the last runways for fall 2011 that you can expect trending around the stores and that you can match with the spring/summer trends:

tuxedolookonsale
  • The tuxedo look is surely to be still around this fall.
Many designers have shown it in their collections, just as Yigal Azrouel as shown on the picture.

You can get from asos.com the Karen Walker tuxedo jacket for a better price!

Brings the look and the liquidly shine that will make a statement in the fall as well.

brightpants

Obviously the major hit of summer had to stick around much longer. I do hope to see them for a long time so that even in the fall you can always brighten your wardrobe!

The brightly colored pants seen again in Yigal Azrouel, are also in other major designers in every shape or color.

At yoox.com these bright blue Versace pants are amazing for any circumstances. Amazing price!

leatherskirtonsale

The Leather skirt is not only to be worn in the winter anymore. You can pretty much find it at anytime and since it will be a hot item this fall, invest on a good piece from this seasons collections.

The skirts can go any length and shape. Pleats are still sure to remain as seen on Rachel Comey show.

The Jovonna is a great find at a great price!. High waisted skirts are rocking and pair it with a casual chic sweatshirt.

midcalfonsale

It was all about skirts this spring. Long, mid and short. The feminine side was enhanced and surely it will prevail.

Mid Calf skirts will be definitely seen this fall, like the ones from Proenza Schouler which were amazing with it’s gorgeous graphic mixed prints.

Bring some for this season such as this pleat skirt at lagarconne.com.

Make sure to be fast grabbing these items or related because they are flying fast and sold out in a snap!
Remember that now is time to invest on good pieces and that are lacking in your wardrobe.

Hello Yellow

Yellow is a very strong bright color and you can surely be noticed when wearing it. Is is also apealing and festive for the summer so why not go for this color trend and have fun with it adding some sunshine to your wardrobe

a. Dorothy Perkins yellow wood section color
b. Yellow Slinky Frill One Piece Swimsuit from Topshop
c. Mecox Gardens - Tulipa Yellow/Grey Cut Velvet Pillow Detail
d. Deborah Lippmann Yellow Brick Road Nail Color
e. Pleat Bobble Clutch Bag
f. Yellow Pleated Flippy Skirt from Topshop
g. Pineapple Short-Sleeve Top at Delias
h. 1STDIBS.COM 40's Assymetric Platinum Diamond
i. BC Footwear Limousine Shoe
j. ASOS Leather Colour Block Satchel at ASOS

How to wear yellow:

  • Choose the right shade: Dark hair and dark skin can go for more vivid colors; Blonde or light skin go for more soft and muted shades; Redheads look good in red undertones or honey yellow tones.
  • If you think yellow is unflatering on you or too bold to wear it alone , choose a print with other colors or mix it with other colors - Yellow goes well with navy blue or silver. The color block trend this s/s almost alows any combination so try something more vivid and fun with contrasting colors such as combining it with pink or mint green.
  • Accessorise - Still too much yellow? Then try incorporating a splash of yellow by adding a yellow handbag or yellow shoes in a more darker outfit .
  • Pick one piece of your ensemble in yellow and keep the rest of the look more muted - a nice skirt does the job perfectly
  • If you have a tan and want to show it off, go for yellow.

Kitschy but Cutie

But then, who are we to stay what's kitsch or not? Thankfully, fashion has driven style into a more personal statement with some common links here and there, reviving old trends, creating new ones and embracing the perfect creative style that we all create out there.
I love revivals...especially when they come back in a more sophisticated way. Remember those friendship bracelets? Well they are back in everybody's wrist. Given by a friend or not, the more you have on your arm, and the more you mix, the better it looks. I love the ones with bling-bling and I surely hoped I knew how to make my own. But then, we have these out there... gorgeous!
This is the kitsch I like! Keep your inner child alive...

Beach Bag Ready?

The summer is almost here, and the beach is calling! For any woman that cares for their image, they won't despise their look at the beach. Either at the lake, or the park, or wherever you need to have a beach bag handy to get you through the day, check these essentials to keep you looking fabulous, but not overdone and yet, still looking flawless.

Here are my favorites:

a. A gorgeous swimsuit is mandatory. For those that want to show more skin, and a good breast support, this Mara Hoffman bikini is absolutey amazing. Prints are a must and this has the perfect embroidered exotic style and removable straps. Seen here.

b. The wide brim of a '70s-glam straw hat protects your face and from the sun and looks very sexy. This floppy hat could be an option.

c. Water is essential to keep you hydrated. Always carry it around in this Red Bobble(r) Water Bottle from here.

d. Carry everything in style and forget about the leather bag. A straw tote bag is perfect for the beach. Try this one from J Crew.

e. This might be the most essential pick for your bag! Skin protection! Swap your superthick formulas for a light, but superbly effective, sunscreen. This one from Kiehl's does the job perfectly.

f. Keep you lips covered and protected with a nice tinted lip from Burt's Bee's.

g. You should avoid wearing makeup at the beach, but a little boost to your eyes give you the glam look. Always go for a waterproof mascara to avoid smudged dark eyes. Try this one from Covergirl - LashBlast Volume Mega Volume Waterproof.

h. The best hairstyle for the summer? Natural beach waves. For a little assistance creating perfectly relaxed ripples, spritz hair with Fekkai Marine Summer Hair Beach Waves and scrunch with your fingers.

i. To keep everything organized in your bag, keep your personal belongings or cosmetics in this cute pouch bag.

j. Oversize frames like these from Tom Ford aren't merely stylish—they also keep the delicate skin around your eyes protected from aging UV rays.

k. Forget the big, heavy beach towel. Go for a light and easy to pack scarf or pareo. Not only let's you lay on it but covers you in a cooler after day from the beach or you can just wear it as a skirt.

l. The perfect footwear, should be comfy and flat for the beach - Jute Upper Beach Sandal from Zara

Feeling Exotic

I thought it was totally unthinkable wearing these two colors together: green and red. First, because it's the colors of my country flag and anyone who'd wear it, would be either cheering for our soccer team or being totally tacky and of course, it is very Christmas festive if you don't pull off a smart outfit.
Now as this season bright color contrast trend is on, the more I see people wearing this combo.

They are two opposing colors in the color wheel and it's hard to put them together although you can make any color combination happen just as long as you have the right tint-tone-shade

Something about these two colors, that reminds me of a vintage exotic feel so instead of going color block, choose a print and accessorize it with flashes of red and green.

My current favorite nail polish right now is the Revlon Top Speed Cloud! I just love it's pastel bluish slightly lavender shade.

This set evolves around the theme and this light shade of blue is just perfect for a warm day! Breezy and light:

Bugalesque

There seems to be a tendency of carrying around bugs, animals and all exotic creatures wrapped around on parts of your body!
This trend has been carried on since this late fall but more and more I find people using that statement ring, belt or bracelet with a bee, snake, beetle or some other funny, crawly bug.

Is it creepy or fab?? I think it's cool... Ancient civilizations already wore bugs as a sacred, protective or lucky charm, like the ancient Egyptians.
Now we wear it as a fashion statement and this might be the closest I can get to an insect!

Want to go animalesque? Check out these cool bug jewels:

Eco fashion is hot!

Today on earth day, the consciousness of making an effort to live in a better world come up. There shouldn't be one day without making a stand and trying to improve our routine and options to help our earth becoming better from human harm.
We can all make a stand, specially on fashion. Sustainability is something important that allows people to combine style with respect for nature, and how to look good and not lose any integrity.

So what does it mean "eco-fashion"? No, not walking around there looking like a jungle woman... it refers  to a method of designing and making clothes that use environmentally friendly fabrics and responsible production techniques.
More and more designers are using this method. It’s not only designers like Stella McCartney and Noir who have a conscience, even affordable brands like Topshop, Marks and Spencers, and H&M are going organic (and have been for some time).

It should be more than a trend. It should be part of our daily lives... So keep in mind: Green is the new black!

a. The word Ela means Mother Earth in Sanskrit, and is the label name of an organic and sustainable fashion label produced, designed and developed in New Delhi, India. The collection, designed by Joyjit Talukdar, was launched by the Creative Group at New Delhi Fashion Week, and features organic un-dyed and unbleached cotton, in combination with milk and bamboo jersey

Get that look!

Hot trend: mid ankle flowing pleated skirt!! The return of the ladylike is everywhere (hooray) and how could you just not love that Chloe's look from this Spring's runway?
If the whole ensemble is way out of your budget (especially the skirt), you can get a similar style with this option:

a. The American Apparel Long Accordion-Pleat Skirt might be an alternative. Has the color, has the pleat has the length and it will make you stand out!
b. The long sleeve, turtle neck from the runway, might be a little bit too much for the warmer weather. So go for a nude tank top.
c. Straight out from the runway - the ChloƩ Leather wristlet bag and,
d. The comfy ChloƩ Leather ballerina flats
Finish the look with a belt!

*note: Pleats can make you look wider. If you want to enhance your hips, then go for it!Rectangular type bodies and V shape bodies work well with these type of skirts. The idea is to create angles and shapes in your body so this skirt is a good option.

In the mood for candy...

...but for a nice sweet one that doesn't harm your teeth, nor your health. Well maybe your wallet but it's for a good cause! How could you not resist these colors? I can picture them in many outfits...
Furla Candy Bags are the sweets for this Spring. Their shape is structured but yet has that mix of funky colors making them wearable for any occasion.
The solid colors and the classic shape makes it timeless and easy to go with most ensembles. I love the colors, the material and especially that slightly transparency turning it to a fun item but doesn't give away all the content.

I am so tempted to get one. They are almost sold out everywhere but you can still find them here.
The big decision is, in which color?? They all look so great... which one you'd you pick??

Golden Mint

Green is a color that has made it's way into spring! A big trend and you find it everywhere: nail polish, make up, clothes, accessory and so on... I personally love the mint shade. All about it is so refreshing and you associate it to all the sweet goodies (mint drops, mint patties, mint ice-cream - love it!). So it couldn't be more perfect for a summer outfit - you'll feel refreshed plus it goes perfectly on a tanned skin!

(from left: Alexander Wang SS2011 | Max Azria SS2011 | Matthew Williamson SS2011 | Jill Sander SS2011)

To match this color, I chose the color gold! Love everything about it - as long you don't go overboard - these two shades look perfect together and you're ready to go off this weekend looking fab and irresistible!

Floppy hat

A must have accessory for this spring. Wide brim floppy hats in straw are ideal for a summer day at the beach, providing all the protection from the sun and giving you a ultimate chic look. It can also cover a bad hair day or just throw it on in any casual look for a chic twist.
Many of this seasons, are vintage inspired, and the 70's emerge again.

( 2 pics on left: Tracy Reese SS2011 | 2 pics on the right: Just Cavalli SS2011)

  • Celebs wear it too:

Just keep in mind:
  • the hat has to be large with a gently swaying soft brim that falls on cheeks (if you are petite, this might not be your choice. Opt for smaller hat and go with a mini-dress or shorts);
  • since it's a 70's inspiration, pair it with long maxi-dresses, long waist shorts or pants;
  • use it as a pop of color in a more mono-chromatic casual look. Prints are a good choice too.
