Dark Vampire Elegance

This vampy trend not only attracts literature and movies but this fall/winter it became focused on fashion through a mix of dark gothic style, revealing a extravagant vampire look but very romantic and feminine.

The color black stands out this season but to accentuate this vampire trend in an exuberant and refined way, oxblood was added to the palette. These colors are seen applied in various materials such as the popular velvet, silk and the big highlight this season, leather... You can also mix this altogether with other textures and trends: transparency and lace.

This trend flooded the catwalk and the vampire look came highlighted in another area: makeup. This fall you could try a pale look with dark red or purple lips and dark eyes.

Without being misinterpreted as a Halloween costume, adventure yourself in this trend choosing exquisite and refined materials that flatter your body type and mix textures by adding different materials to the outfit.

Leather of Fall

Leather for Fall/Winter is no newsflash, although along these years, this material has reinvented itself and shows to be more innovative when the time to fully showcase arrives. It gives us the pleasure to comeback more "refreshed" and this year is no exception.
It appears in almost every detail and accessories with bold cuts, different weight and texture that provide it's applicability in new forms and structures, more innovative such as dresses, tops or skirts giving you a more elegant and fitted silhouette. Leather is not only reserved for outerwear to keep us warm but more and more it has become our second layer of skin.

This year, leather appears in a more bold and dark romantic feel, combining i.e lace with other textures - embellishment, perforated, velvet...
The delicacy and freshness of Spring is replaced by romantic warrior princesses but extremely seductive and the big color that stands out is with no doubt, the oxblood red.
Invest this year on this leather that's versatile and fun to combine with any other material or piece.

techno hello!

Hello Everyone.
Long time since my last post but life can be pretty hectic and unfortunately, blogging isn't my full-time job, although it would make me very happy if so.
Fall is here and so long for warm days. Cool, crisp days have made it's arrival this way and all I want to do is cuddle in bed and stay warm.
Fall and winter trend posts will be flowing in the blog pretty soon... until then, here is one of my favorite nail polish for the season: "smashed" from Estee Lauder. A sparkly dark purple, just as you want it for the new trend.

Treat of the day >> Genefique Yeux

I am a firm believer that we can't feel fully beautiful or satisfied with an outfit if we don't have that glow, radiance in our skin to top it off. No matter how great you look, if our skincare doesn't match that flawless style, than it will feel like something is missing.
Before anything else, we should have our skincare routine as a priority.
I am so happy to be trying out all these new goodies and this one just jumped in to my family of skincare products (they just seem to be growing as so does my age :)
Eye area is the first to show sign of aging and it's sensitivity should be taken as a special need and care; products to focus on this area and I am hoping this one will start doing it's job as to reveal a more radiant and younger eye contour and to smooth, minimize eye bags and dark circles.
Isn't this a miracle? :) Well, let them explain better....

Shorts for your body type

A fundamental piece for summer and that´s always on trend is with no doubt, the shorts. It can be worn at anytime or any occasion as to the beach, work or more formal, but the most important thing, is to find the type of short that best suits your body type.

Follow these advice for different lengths:


Short: Use them if you are petite or have little feminine curves. This is a perfect length to elongate your legs. Avoid if you have wide hips or a very curvy body


Medium: This is a length that looks well in every body type and if you have long or short legs. To find out the best length, just place your arms along your body and the hem should be below 2 or 3 inches from your fingers.


Bermuda: Ideal for whom has long legs or a pear shaped body. The length until the knee allows more coverage for the legs and flatters a tall figure. Avoid if you have small legs because it will shorten them visually.


There are other aspects to consider when picking out shorts. The type of fabric influences the image you want to transmit. Fabrics with elasticity are more fitted and 100% cotton more structured. A cut in A or a more roomy short flatters wider hips and a more fitted short, better for slimmer legs and less curves.

I was never one to go beyond my safe zone when it comes to lip color. I thought I looked ridiculous in a bright "in your face" lip. So obviously I would always turn to my never-disappointing gloss or nudes. I don't know if it's the trends lately (most likely) or a change of mind, but I am having so much fun this year with these matte bright lipsticks from Wet n Wild. I chose this brand because I was too afraid on spending tons of money in something that I probably didn't like seeing myself in, but these do perfectly it's job and didn't disappoint at all, and the price factor is a plus (very cheap). And I think I don't look that bad after all... 

Now for nails, you can never go wrong with bright colors. It matches everybody's skin tone and it's a great complement for any outfit. I gathered the colors that I wear most often in the summer in a little bowl.

I am wearing now "I need a refresh-mint" from guess who? Yep, Wet n Wild again... It has just conquered my heart and wallet and I think it's a great price and valued item. Megalast are so easy to apply and it has a great finish.

Peach and Banana Cream Shake
vegan, makes two tall shakes

1 1/2 cups frozen peach slices
3/4 cup vanilla soy milk
1/2 cup vanilla soy yogurt
1 ripe banana, fresh
2 scoops vanilla soy cream – or coconut cream
1 tsp apple cider vinegar – adds a sassy tang
garnish: soy cream and one panini pressed peach

LWD - 3 ways to wear it

Nothing else brings more lightness and freshness than a white dress in the summer. It´s our highest wishes when we feel great showing off that dress especially if we contrast it with the gorgeous summer tan, by then we know we hit the high note.

You have green light to use this color in any occasion; going to the beach, cocktail or even to work. The fabric and shape will define it´s use for different occasions.

White is a great basic and a perfect canvas to add up any accessory to the outfit. It´s a clean, fresh, crisp and feminine color.

1. For a job outfit, a modern and neutral ensemble where you can add a pop of color to your feet to make a difference. A structured dress with polished, elegant and professional accessories.

I can't resist a good black and gold combination. It's my ultimate favorite color for accessories or even outfits. I think it's just so glam and chic and an effortless sophistication, that can be worn anytime of the day. So no wonder I find myself wearing over and over again this combo and if you add it to chains and studs, then I'm good for the day.

One of my favorite nail polish lately is the Essie Master Plan. I bought it a while back, in the winter (I think) and it never dissapoints me. I guess I'll take it through the summer as well and it's a nice variation from the bright colors. It's a greyish nude that goes with everything. Let's call it my new neutral for nails - a great escape from the traditional whites or beige's.

[The Shake]:

Mango smoothie

A refreshing creamy drink where the mango and yogurt combine perfectly and the cardamom seeds provide and exotic touch in this drink, perfect to start off your day with a healthy breakfast.

Ingredients:

1 ripped mango
85g of plain yogurt
200ml cold skim milk
1 teaspoon of honey
Cardamom seeds from 6 pods

Preparation:

Peel off the mango and extract the pulp. Cut into cubes and place it in a blender. Blend it until creamy. Add the yogurt and milk and stir it all well together. Add the honey for sweetness.

Serve in two glasses and sprinkle the top with the seeds. Serve imediatly.

[The Fashion]:

Which is the fairest of them all??

It´s not a fairy tale story but a real fashionista reality. The prints this year scream for attention and they couldn't be more bold and the big twist this year, is seeing them with a mirrored effect. 

The mirror print is a big trend and we see it mostly on pencil skirts or dresses. The pieces should be worn fitted so the effect stands out better. They are normally inspired by tropical prints or a baroque style. They have contrasting colors and they surely stand out making a difference.

If you are a fan of prints, then this is a new style to try out. The mirror print copies a reflection of an image, usually mirrored vertically. 

This is a trend that allows you to style flowers without looking to girly and it´s a perfect print to adapt into a more polished look for work and all you need to do is add a blazer or a neutral top to become elegant and different, from the usual boring suits for work.

Summer Leather

Fashion nowadays brings items from one season to another which would seem like unthinkable. Let's call it the fashion of modern climate.
You would never think of wearing leather in the summer, for we always relate it to the cold and a way to bundle-up but lately, nobody is shocked by seeing shorts or skirts in leather combined with a t-shirt and the advantage of this is that you can wear the items all year long.

Usually summer clothes are always delicate, flowy and fresh but if you want to make a statement and have a more polished look, then the leather will do it's job giving a look a more sharp and edgy feel.

There are different types of leather items for summer where you can pick from, completely adapted to the warmer weather. They are more lightweight and can be colorful as well.
Choose black shorts (not too snug) and use it with a casual t-shirt and for a feminine touch to contrast with the rocker style, add colorful pumps or high-heel sandals. For a more sharp look, a pencil skirt more fitted and a fun top, will do it.

Try as well a leather peplum top - the big trend this season.

Bleached Summer

When we think of tie-dye, what other than a hippie look comes to our mind? We remember those days of dipping and creating our own, fun and unique colorful t-shirts.

This technique of gradient dying or something completely random, made on pants, shorts or shirts is getting high on the fashion trendy world but in a more orderly and sophisticated way.

If you are into stained or bleached clothing, then this trend is for you. Tie-dye comes in and out of fashion but this year we see it rising on the streets with celebrities and fashion bloggers rocking this style, in a appealing summer spirit with a rocker-hippy-chic look.

Although we can find clothing in this trend out in stores, we can perfectly create ourselves this bleached look on a low budget and transform some boring left out pieces in our wardrobe, into something fun and refreshing, totally trendy for this season. It´s as easy as dipping them into bleach on the area that we would like to create that effect and leaving out an untouched part. For example, pick out some pants than you don´t use anymore and cut them out into shorts and bleach them into a mixture of water and bleach. Voilá!! You got your own bleached summer look.

Electrify with Neon - Tips for wearing the trend.

There is nothing better than to highlight your tan with a little help of a color. This trend is the best to do that job giving your skin a contrast with a lightning shock  - talking about neon! 

This trend made a strong comeback this year, and this time standing out with more brighter colors, becoming, with no doubt one, of the highest trends this season. You can see this brightness everywhere; clothing, a handbag, shoes, accessories or even makeup.

Tips to wear neon:

• Since it´s a bright and acid color try to avoid wearing items on parts of your body that you don´t want to enhance;
• If you don´t have yet the desired skin tone to wear these colors, choose an accessory or a little detail of neon and avoid big solid items with this color;
• For a more edgy look, do color-blocking, contrasting for i.e green+yellow or pink+orange. Use solid colors, structured and avoid an exaggerated contrast;
• Choose preferably cold tone neons for a more shocking effect;
• Neon paired with pastels or neutrals match perfectly. Creates a balanced effect;
• Keep your makeup toned down if you wear neon;
• If you think you don´t have the best skin tone to wear this trend, avoid any clothing or items close to your face and pick pieces such as skirts, shoes or handbags and keep the top part neutral;
• To avoid creating looks similar to the 80´s, choose feminine items with a minimalistic or classic cut;

Pastel Spring

For a cool twist from the big trend of strong bold colors seen lately - since last year - here comes a new and soft palette reminding us of yummy colors such as sorbet. It adds a refreshing and romantic tone to any outfit - the pastel colors.
It´s one of the big trends this season and we see it all around (clothes, accessories, makeup...).

Colors that reminds us of easter eggs, like warm yellows, soft peaches, pinks and powdery lavenders. They are very versatile and feminine and great to be worn at any time of the day.

How to use pastel colors:

• Go bold with a pastel color-block outfit. Try not to use more than 2 tones so you won´t look like an easter egg or try to pick one shade and style a monochromatic look;
• For a less edgy look, just pick out one of the items of your outfit to be your pastel choice and combine it with whites, light greys or nudes; 
• A pastel blouse will look great with a nude leather skirt. Neutral and earthy tones look great with pastel;
• Silky and flowy fabrics match perfectly this feminne color;
• Nothing says you can´t use these colors for a night out. Just pick a piece with more sparkle or sequins and you´ll be ready to shine on a summer night. 
• Unfortunately this is not a color that looks great in every skin tone so you should pick out colors that will enhance and iluninate your skin: Pale skin, pink undertones, blonde or black hair, light colored eyes are the perfect match for this trend - Normally called the "cold" skin type. If this is not your type, don´t be discouraged. Just try to keep any piece in this color away from your face and choose items such as pants, shoes, skirts, handbags, belts... There is also a big variety of pastel colors in nail polishes to add a pop of pastel into your outfit.
